The gridlock on Capitol Hill is deepening after the Republican-controlled House rejected a bipartisan Senate plan to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security late last week. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Recent polls show on average, the majority of Americans disagree with the President’s handling of the Iran conflict. On Monday, the President also renewed his threats to target Iranian oil and energy sites.  

The bipartisan DIGNITY Act — introduced by Florida Republican María Salazar and Texas Democrat Veronica Escobar — is quickly building momentum, now backed by 60 national organizations and dozens of lawmakers, including Congressman Mike Kelly. 

The Trump administration is reportedly preparing for the possibility of boots on the ground in the Middle East, as a key Army unit prepares to deploy to the region. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It’s now been 40 days of the Department of Homeland Security shut down. TSA agents have worked without getting paid, travelers have dealt with hours long lines, FEMA’s Disaster Relief funds are running low and our cybersecurity agency (CISA) has furloughed hundreds of workers. On Capitol Hill, frustrations are growing among Republicans and Democrats to find a solution.  

On Tuesday, Senate Republican leaders felt confident they found a path forward with a proposal that would fund most of the Department of Homeland Security, except for a small portion of immigration enforcement spending. But on Wednesday, that confidence faded.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After more than a month of the DHS shutdown, we’re hearing there could be some movement to fund parts of DHS. The proposal could also include provisions of the President’s sweeping election law. 

The conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States continues to shake global energy markets. That could change in response to President Trump announcing a five-day pause in attacks and also suggesting Tuesday that a deal with Iran could be within reach. 

President Trump is now saying that there should be no deal to fund DHS— an agency that also oversees TSA, FEMA, CISA and the Coast Guard — until the Senate passes a controversial voter ID bill.
