Michigan Senator Slotkin says she is Under Investigation over Illegal Orders Video

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin (D- MI) revealed she is being investigated after she took part in a video telling military members they can refuse illegal orders. The freshman Senator is pointing the finger at the President saying he is using the FBI and DOJ against people who disagree with him.

“Last week DC Attorney General Jeanine Pirro, a former Fox News host, asked to interview me because of a 90 second video that I filmed in November,” said Sen. Slotkin. “This is on top of an FBI inquiry that came in from the counter terrorism division late last year.”

In a video message, Sen. Slotkin revealed she’s under investigation for taking part in this video a few months ago telling military members they’re allowed to refuse illegal orders

“Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this constitution,” the congressional members said in the video. “Right now, the threats to our constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders. You can refuse illegal orders.”

After that video was released, President Trump called for the arrest and death penalty for those members.

“Now he’s using his political appointees at the FBI and the Department of Justice to follow through with his threats,” said Sen. Slotkin. “To be clear this is the President’s playbook. Truth doesn’t matter. Facts don’t matter and anyone who disagrees with him becomes an enemy, he then weaponizes the federal government against them.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the military started administrative actions that could reduce the retirement rank and military pension against Arizona Senator Mark Kelly (D- AZ), who also participated in the video. Senator Kelly is now suing the Secretary and the Pentagon. Sen Kelly maintains that he was simply articulating a fundamental principle of military law.

Slotkin adds that this investigation will not intimidate her.

“Our freedom of speech is worth fighting for,” said Sen. Slotkin. “Our values, our core values are worth fighting for, and right now speaking out against the abuse of power is the most patriotic thing we can do.”

We reached out to the D.C. Attorney General’s office regarding this investigation but did not hear back.
